ZFS-5

READY FOR YOUR CALL-UP

Progressive but racy, ZFS-5 was built for today’s evolving XCO courses—it has to pedal well and handle quickly, but also take on the chunks, jumps, and drops littering the circuit. ZFS-5’s 67.8-degree head tube angle delivers the precision required for elbow-to-elbow hole shot sprints, and the confidence to let off the brakes when the track gets rough. And in 120mm-outfitting, the 66.6-degree head angle will give you the extra confidence to push harder, and ride faster, even when the trail gets a bit...hellish.

Flat bars, suspension, Cervélo?

World Cup season is here, and we’re all-in. The Z bikes—the ZHT-5 and the ZFS-5, our hardtail and full-suspension, respectively—made their race debut at the Nove Mesto World Cup. The pilots? World Cup veteran and former Dutch National XCO Champion Milan Vader alongside reigning Cyclocross World Champion Fem van Empel.

CALL IT A COMEBACK

Milan Vader is a veteran XC racer and former Dutch National Champion. He was set to race the Z bikes in 2022, but a life-changing crash at Itzulia Basque Country meant his priorities were re-learning to walk and ride. He’s recovered phenomenally well and much faster than the doctors expected, and will be racing the entire World Cup circuit this year.

DOUBLE DUTCH

Fem van Empel is one of Team Jumbo-Visma’s most recent signings, and she’s already made the rainbow connection. Following a decisive World Cyclocross Championships win in Hoogerheide, she traded knobbies for slicks this Spring, and has now set her sights on improving her best-ever World Cup results and landing on the podium.

Frame Sizing

How do I determine what bike size I need?

The age-old question, isn’t it? There are many factors that go into bicycle sizing and fit, particularly for high-performance bikes. Without being able to measure you and see you on a bike, precise fit information is difficult to supply. It’s also not unusual for someone to be able to ride two different sizes depending on their goals, flexibility, and fit tolerance. That said, we have some fantastic retailers, and we’d encourage you to go start a conversation with them about what you want from your new bike. You can find the retailer closest to you on our Dealer Locator.

Notes

  • This guide serves as a general shock setup guide; in the case of conflict between this guide and the suspension supplier literature please contact Cervélo Customer Support for review and clarification.
  • Always set up the rear shock before the fork (sag, rebound, and compression).
  • Sag is set with all gear you would normally wear during a ride (helmet, shoes, cycling clothing, hydration/tool kit).
  • Do not exceed the stated maximum inflation pressure on any suspension component.
  • Refer to the front suspension setup guide provided by the fork manufacturer for front suspension setup.

Rear Shock Setup Guide

WARNING Do not exceed the maximum rear shock pressure listed on the shock.

  1. Turn the compression adjustment knob to fully open position.
  2. Turn the rebound adjustment knob to fully open position.
  3. Set the air pressure to match the riders weight in pounds (for example: if the rider weighs 150 pounds set the rear shock to 150 PSI)
  4. Cycle the rear shock 5-10 times to equalize the positive and negative air chambers.
  5. Move the sag ring against the shock dust seal and have the rider sit on the bike while propped up against a wall in a neutral riding position.
  6. The sag measurement is the distance between the o-ring and shock dust seal (Note: some rear shocks will have sag gradients etched into the shock body. These will serve the same purpose as the sag rings during setup.)
  7. Adjust air pressure as needed to meet the target sag percentage (Note: increasing air pressure will reduce the sag measurement, decreasing air pressure will increase the sag measurement.)
  8. Adjust the compression and rebound settings to achieve the desired ride quality.

40mm Shock Stroke = 10-12mm Target Sag | 45mm Shock Stroke = 11.25-13.5mm Target Sag

*Target sag is between 25%-30% of total shock travel
