Xena shines in Shanghai

Caroline “Xena” Steffen earned her second-straight Ironman 70.3 victory in Shanghai, along with a new nickname: “Supermom.”

The win in China followed her third consecutive title at Ironman 70.3 Sunshine Coast, and made it four podiums in a row for the Swiss Cervélo athlete less than 10 months after giving birth to her son Xander.

“Speedy day on a very fast Ironman 70.3 Shanghai race course,” Xena said after her 4:06:32 performance, which included the third-fastest run of her Ironman 70.3 career (in 1:20) and a blazing-fast ride on her Cervélo P5. “Pretty stoked to walk away with another win.”

After @IRONMANLive tweeted that “Supermum continues her winning comeback,” Xena posted a photo of herself and Xander at the finish line. “Your job is pretty cool mumma,” she joked on behalf of her son. “I love that I get to see all these cool places with you...but seeing you at the finish line is always my favourite part.”
