Team Wurtele triumphs in Sardinia

Heather Wurtele wrapped up her 2017 racing season by winning Challenge Forte Village Sardinia.

The day before Team Wurtele toed the start line on the Mediterranean isle, the couple tweeted that the course was “shaping up to be the perfect way to end our #IslandsFarFromKona tour & European adventures.”

It wasn’t perfect, but it came close: Heather combined a women’s-best swim and run with a blazing-fast 2:34:55 bike split on her Cervélo P5X to win the women’s title in 4:27:46, while Trevor came fifth after his own very speedy P5X ride.

Combined with her other Challenge Series achievements this year, which included victory in Mallorca two weeks earlier and podiums in Slovakia and Germany, Heather earned a cool €10,000 by finishing fourth overall in the Challenge European Points Series.

“Great racing to end the year for us,” the pair tweeted afterwards. “Thank you @Cervelocycles P5X.”

No, thank YOU, Heather and Trevor!
