Britain strikes gold in Berlin
Elinor Barker and Ellie Dickinson won the madison on the final day of the European Track Championships, while Katie Archibald took gold in both the individual pursuit and the omnium.
Barker and Dickinson — the former an Olympic gold medallist, the latter making her debut at an elite European championships — won the final sprint on their Cervélo T4s after leapfrogging Ireland for gold.
Archibald, meanwhile, continued her sensational form on her T4 with gold in the individual pursuit and the omnium, along with a silver in the team pursuit. She set a personal-best time of 3:28.003 in the individual pursuit to qualify fastest for the final. Poland’s Justyna Kaczkowska led after 1,000m in the final, but at the two-kilometre mark Archibald was fastest and completed the race in 3:29.328 to win by more than three seconds.
"Today I've had all the wins,” Archibald said. “I've beaten myself, I've beaten everyone else. I’ll sleep happy.”
