Meet Cecilie Uttrup Ludwig, leader of the UCI WWT youth classification
21-year-old Cecilie Uttrup Ludwig became the first leader of the UCI Women's WorldTour Youth competition on Saturday. Despite her first ever participation in the tough Strade Bianche, the Danish time trial champion was ninth, showing the potential she possesses.
What are your best qualities on the bike?
I consider myself a climber. I also have other qualities, I have potential in the time trial and that’s something I want to focus on and become better at it.
How are you feeling after 3 races with the team so far this season?
I’m so happy to be with Cervélo Bigla because the team is so professional. The girls are so nice, the staff are amazing and we’re having a lot of fun. Joining the team is really a big step in my career. Having only done 3 races, I’ve learnt so much in these races already. It’s looking good for the year ahead I think we can be such a strong unit in the races ahead.
Can you mention some of the things you’ve learnt?
To work together as a unit, I haven’t really done that before. It’s new to me to hear on the radio that the whole team has to go to the front and work together if we missed a move we’re not happy with. To feel like you’re part of something bigger is amazing and I am learning a lot from it. That just makes me stronger.
What career goals do you have?
To learn more and to be a better rider tactically. I want to learn about being in the right breakaway and reading races well. I’m very confident that I am in the right team for that. There has been so much focus on development in such a short space of time, I’m really looking forward to the future.
