Top 10 for Klier and Hammond

February 15, 2010 - Filed under: TestTeam
Daniele Bennati (Liquigas-Doimo) won today's second stage of the Tour of Oman from Nizwa to Samail (148.5km). The Italian outsprinted Tyler Farrar (Garmin-Transitions) and Edvald Boasson Hagen (Sky Pro Cycling Team). Cervélo TestTeam ended with two riders in the top ten, Andreas Klier placed fifth and Roger Hammond sixth.

The stage started with an early four man break with Ben Dowsett (Trek-Livestrong), Kristof Vandewalle (Topsport Vlaanderen-Mercator), Ben Gastauer (Ag2r) and Jackson Stewart (BMC Racing Team). The group went back into the bunch twenty kilometres before the finish.

"Today's stage was pretty fast," said Jens Zemke sports director. "The Saur-Sojasun team of leader Jimmy Casper took responsibility and dominated the race. Then in the final all the other sprinter teams came to the front and it ended as expected in a bunch sprint."

"With 15 kilometre to go we were with our whole team up at the front," said Roger Hammond. "Because of the cross winds, we tried to blow up the peloton but the wind changed and it didn't help. In the final they did a lead out for me. Andreas (Klier) lead me out and we both finished in the front of the peloton. Once again today we showed that our team is really strong. The course here is something quite different than the flat road last week in Qatar. We don't know exactly to expect in the next stages, but we will work hard to try something."
