Roger Hammond finishes top 20 in Oman

February 19, 2010 - Filed under: TestTeam
The individual time trial today, the sixth and final stage of the first Tour of Oman was won by Edvald Boasson Hagen (Nor) Sky Pro Cycling Team. But the second place contender in today's 18.6 kilometre stage, Fabian Cancellara (Saxo Bank) actually won the overall Tour of Oman. Cancellara's second place result put him ahead of overnight leader Daniele Bennati (Liquigas-Doimo) for the final overall classification. Best result for Cervélo TestTeam today was Andreas Klier (Ger) in 24th position.

"The time trial today started in front of the hotel and again another day of extreme conditions with the heat more than thirty degrees," said Jens Zemke, Sports Director. "The course was an 18.6 kilometre circuit, very up and down, reaching considerable speeds in the descents. I was following Martin Reimer who we thought had a chance for the young rider jersey, but that went to Boasson Hagen who won the stage. We did a good job here although it was not perfect in these extreme conditions. This race has been a good preparation for the big spring classics ahead."

Stage 6: Al Jissah - Muscat Corniche (ITT) 18.6km

1 Edvald Boasson Hagen (Nor) Sky Pro Cycling Team 0:25:58
2 Fabian Cancellara (Swi) Team Saxo Bank 0:00:17
3 Cameron Meyer (Aus) Garmin - Transitions 0:00:45
24 Andreas Klier (Ger) Cervélo TestTeam 0:01:42
