Haussler wins points jersey, Cervélo TestTeam wins team classification

The sixth and final stage of the Tour of Qatar was won today by Francesco Chicchi (Liquigas). Chicchi winning his second stage was again the fastest in the mass sprint, ahead of Tyler Farar (Garmin-Transitions) and Juan Jose Haedo (Saxo Bank). Wouter Mol won the overall GC classification.

The final stage began in Al Wakra and finished 123.5km later in Doha with eight laps of a 6km circuit. There was also a long breakaway in today's race with a group of four riders who escaped in the first 2.5km and were chased back with only 4km to go.

"Again today there was very little wind so we tried to prepare the sprint for Theo (Bos) and Heinrich (Haussler) had a free role in the final," said Jens Zemke, sports director. "But it was pretty stressful in that final since a lot of teams wanted to win this last stage and we do have the best sprinters in the peloton here. Chicchi won his second stage, Heinrich finished in ninth spot and was able to keep his points jersey.

A big present at the end of this was winning the team classification, another great result. Without the one minute penalty from the first stage we would have had a good chance to win our first stage race of the season. But we move on. The riders have confirmed that this was good preparation for them and that they are ready for the season."
