Another bunch sprint in Tour of Oman

February 16, 2010 - Filed under: TestTeam
The third stage of the Tour of Oman, from Saifat Ash Shiekh - Qurayyat (124 km) once again ended in a bunch sprint today. Edvald Boasson Hagen (Team Sky) won the stage defeating Danilo Napolitano (Katusha), who placed second and Tyler Farrar (Garmin-Transitions) in third. Best result today for Cervélo TestTeam was Roger Hammond in thirteenth position

"After the start on the beach at Saifat Ash Shiekh we went right into a very steep 3km climb," said Jens Zemke, Sports Director, "with attacks beginning as soon as the race started. After 15km four riders emerged at the top with a maximum time gap of approximately four minutes. Team Sky started the chase and after 110km everyone came back together. The last 15km were the most spectacular during this stage. A 2km climb split the bunch in several parts and the downhill, on a wide and good road, made it possible to ride more than 100km/h. The race ended in a big sprint and our best rider, Roger Hammond ended in thirteenth position. The conditions today were amazing with a temperature of more than 30 degrees. We were riding threw a bizarre landscape and the people from Oman saw their first bike race."
