Andersson on podium at European 70.3 championships

August 16, 2010 - Filed under: Company
Björn Andersson finished third this weekend in the European 70.3 championships in Wiesbaden, Germany behind Michael Raelert and Sebastian Kienle.

"The race ended up being a tough affair with a stacked field and rough weather conditions that made the handling the bike quite technically challenging on some slippery roads," said Björn Andersson. "The swim was the easiest part of the day with a reasonably big group swimming together rather defensively. Everyone seemed content to wait and strike later on during the bike and run. As usual I tried to make the most out of the bike to get a lead and hang on for as long as possible during the run. While the bike course was fun to ride it was perhaps not the best for creating the biggest possible time gaps but in the end I still gained enough time there to keep the lead about halfway through the run and hold on for 3rd at the finish. A result I'm happy with all things considered and with the strong competition at the race."
