Thanks from Cervélo TestTeam

January 04, 2011 - Filed under: Team Garmin-Barracuda
As announced in August 2010, the Cervélo TestTeam project as a professional cycling team came to an end as of December 31, 2010. The concept proved to be not only a breath of fresh air in the cycling world but also successful as a racing team.

The team achieved two world championship victories (Thor Hushovd and Emma Pooley) and a total of 125 pro cycling victories in two years, including 10 Grand Tour stages, the Tour de l'Aude, a green jersey at the 2009 Tour and the Giro Donne. In the meantime, concepts we started such as the Beyond The Peloton video documentary, the focus on product development and the increased assertiveness of bike companies in pro cycling will provide a lasting legacy.

We would like to thank you for your interest and efforts in the past two years and hope to see you in the future. We wish you a healthy and successful 2011.

I agree with the others, I'd love to see BTP continued.

As for the new team, I don't look at it as a downgrade by any means, if anything an upgrade. It's still Cervelo, and you will see the same activism and spirit from Garmin-Cervelo as from the Test Team. Just wait and see. For those who have the access to the coverage, the Tour Down Under is almost here!

Thanks to management of Cervelo for their vision on a dedicated

bike-company supported team like CTT. It will go down in my books as one of the most inspiring revivals. Shame it wasn't able to sustain. Anyway from the words of Team Manger, JOOP ALBERDA (BTP 2, #2) - "if you had the intention to test it, it's never wrong.....". Hence from that point of view, I guess the Cervelo Test Team (CTT) did achieve a more than successful test - not only in racing and product development but also creating a Cervelo family which included the fans like me to feel connected to every training session, race and even in the R&D labs. All thanks to BTP videos who took special consideration to keeping us informed and involved. As I am currently recovering from an injury, the BTP videos are what's motivating me. Stories from all the riders who have overcomed injury to press on are a true inspiration. Keep it up guys!!! Go the Aussies!!! Go u good thing!!! Go Heinrich - smash them at Flanders!!! Go Thor - smash them at Paris-Roubaix!!!

The Cervelo Test Team was the coolest thing I have ever seen in pro cycling.

..... the point of life is not to be around forever but rather make our mark when we are here, CTT made a big impact in the sport, more than others that remain ever will ...

A lot of nice things have already been put said (posted) and I agree with all comments. I will miss CTT and I can not help beeing sad that the conditions to continue wasn't there....

I want to thank the whole team, but especially Geert Broekhuizen that helped me with information to Team Hushovd - Thor Hushovds fanclub. I also want to thank the CTT people in Paris under TdF that welcome us Thor Hushovd fans to the bus... It was something we will remember ALWAYS!

I hope Team Garmin-Cervélo will take as good care of us Thor Hushovd and Gabba fans that CTT did.... The fans is important. Without fans - why race...?

Again - Thanks a lot and THE BEST OF LUCK TO YOU ALL!!!

From a business stand point the ROI for BTP is worth continuing.

I must say, if it were not for CTT, I would not be road biking. I've watched the tour every year on versus(oln), but I never rode on the road (only mountain bikes). During the 2009 tour I noticed the CTT team and then checked out this website. I started watching BTP, eventually baught an S1, and the rest is history. Thanks for getting me into the sport that I used to only watch for years.

I couldn't agree more with everyone's comments. CTT was truly an inspirational team/family that will leave a lot of cycling fans wanting more this year and the years to come.

Not to mention Beyond the Peloton which was more captivating and moving then any film I've ever seen. It opened our eyes to the whole other world of cycling that takes place off the bike. And when people are able to inspire their friends and family (as I did) to pick up cycling after watching the series then you know you're in the presence of something uniquely special. In this way and others Beyond the Peloton didn't just change the sport, but for some of us it forever changed our lives. Is there really no hope for keeping the series alive with the new Garmin-Cervelo team???

Either way, we are forever grateful for what all of you at Cervelo were able to accomplish in such a short time.

Thankyou to you all involved in CerveloTestTeam....this team ignited my passion for cycling again and got me back on the bike after at least 7years off it....to the point where 5 weeks ago I finished my first Ironman triathlon on my S2, I love the bikes (they are amazing)....but most of all I enjoyed what the team stood for and the transparency that we were able to see through the Beyond The Peleton video's.to be able to watch the team prepare and race in these video's was a unique insight to the workings of the team....and best of all we got to see the personalities of the riders involved.....and we got to really feel a part of the team. It's going to be hard to follow Garmin-Cervelo next season....(because I think some of the Garmin riders are soft).....but the Cervelo guys who have come across will help....can't wait to see Hienrich smashing them next year, and Brett Lancaster solid as ever (Go the Aussies).....but especially cant wait to see Big Thor in the rainbow jersey each race....you absolute champion!!!!!......After going to 2010 TDF and standing on the side of the road with my Cervelo kit on for 11 days and seeing the team first hand it has made me a Cervelo fan for life.....I will resist buying and wearing the new Garmin- Cervelo kit because I love the black/white of CTT so much and even though the team won't be around in 2011 I will wear my kit out riding very proudly for years to come........Good luck in 2011...

It is a sad day. Although I will continue to support Cervelo and follow the Garmin-Cervelo Team. The potential is huge.

Thanks Cervelo for beginning the CTT. The venture stood out as an example of what is good in cycling. I applaud the work ethic, team spirit and outright rejection of unclean racing that CTT stood for! CTT rose above the pack for those reasons - and it was easy to get behind them and root for them. My enthusiasm for cycling grew through following CTT's two outstanding years in the peloton. (And through riding your outstanding bikes.)

Here's hoping Cervelo can stay as involved in the highest levels of the sport as possible. The sport NEEDS it!

I think the Cervelo TT was quite an achievement both in terms of palmares that they managed to garner in their short 2 years as well as the whole concept for openness, clean cycling, product development and a sense of Team and camraderie that transcended the usual dog eat dog world of pro cycling. However in a way the CTT has failed to explain how it all came to such an abrupt end. In the BTP videos riders like Heinrich Hausler were talking of cycling for the CTT for 5 years or more. What happened??? There is the final piece of the jiggsaw puzzle that hasn't been explained properly and that leaves a bitter taste in the mouth. After so much idealism it seems silly to be so secretive about the end. Yes, it must have been about money, but the why's and when's of such a fundamentally good idea going bust are begging to be told. Also the fact that so many people were left in the lurch so suddenly is also unbecoming, and although Cervelo has strived to help them out, in my mind they are a bit more responsible than that, certainly morally if not contractually. It is a sad day, the 1st of Jan when the Cervelo kit will no longer be seem officially. I will keep on racing in it in my amateur races, a testament to the fundamentally good ideals of the team and the inspiring cycling that they gave us. I think your idea was wonderful. I wish you'd be more open about the end.
