Stefan Denifl in GC top 25 at Murica

March 06, 2010 - Filed under: TestTeam
A 22 kilometre long individual time trial with very little elevation change was the focus of today's fourth stage at the Tour of Murcia. Frantisek Rabon (CZE-HTC-Columbia) won it in a time of 25:10, also managing to take over the GC race lead. Denis Menchov (RUS-Rabobank) came in 33 seconds slower while Bradley Wiggins (GBR - Team Sky) was third at 48 seconds. Stefan Denifl (AUT) in 35th position had the best result for Cervélo TestTeam.

"Our best rider again today was Stefan Denifl and his efforts are reflected in his new GC standing moving up to 23rd position," said Marcello Albasini, sports director. "Though he is not a time trial specialist he rode well today and is in good shape. The time trial was pretty hard, with small climbs and a lot of wind. We also had another solid time trial performance today as well from Philip Deignan (IRL) who continues to gain strength and perfect his form. The Tour of Murcia finishes tomorrow with a 121kilometre stage from Redyser to Murcia. It will probably be another sprint finish and we will try something with Theo Bos (NED)."

Stage 4: Alhama de Murcia - Alhama de Murcia (ITT) 22km

1. Frantisek Rabon (Cze) Team HTC - Columbia 0:25:10
2. Denis Menchov (Rus) Rabobank 0:00:33
3. Bradley Wiggins (GBr) Team Sky 0:00:48
35. Stefan Denifl (Aut) Cervélo TestTeam
