Garmin-Cervélo's Lizzie Armitstead
outsprinted Judith Arndt (HTC Highroad Women) to win the final stage of Internationale Thüringen Rundfahrt der Frauen 2011. In a stage that was very nervous from the drop of the starting flag because of very small differences in the GC, Emma Johanssen took 4 seconds in the of the two intermediate sprints and overtook the yellow jersey with 50 km.
Tactics of the teams changes seeing several riders attacking. With 15 km to go, Lizzie Armitstead attacked, followed by 4 other riders leaving a gap between 15 and 30 seconds in the last kilometers. At the finish line, Lizzie battled it out with Arndt winning by 2 centimetres giving Garmin-Cervélo its second stage win following Emma Pooley's solo win on Friday.
Best rider in the GC was Noemi Cantele who was able to hold onto her fifth place position. Emma Pooley won the mountains jersey competition and Lizzie Armitstead took the sprinters jersey. The team also captured the team competition as best team.
