It was a really tough day in the desert! The winds were near gail-force again and we had an extremly fast start. It split into several groups and came together again - and that is how it was all day, chasing in different groups. A breakaway without much chance of success tried to stay out in front until we hit the last cross-wind section, then it was over. At the same moment that the leader's jersey flatted the front group exploded.
We had four riders up front who chased towards the finish as a train and they delivered Heinrich perfect for the finish. He won easily and took the yellow jersey. Hammond and Rasch finished up there as well in top ten and so we lead the team GC as well.
It was one of the hardest stages I have seen here in Qatar!
