Emma Pooley world champion time trial

Cervélo TestTeam's Emma Pooley (GBR) claimed the victory in the women's world championship time trial in Geelong, Australia. Pooley outperformed a strong field to complete the 22.9km course in 32 minutes, 44.44 seconds.

"I'm really happy and can't quite believe it. I am so proud to wear the world champion's jersey with the stripes for a whole year" said Emma Pooley. "It was pretty special to become second at the Olympic Games, but in a way, that was easier for me because I had no expectations and no pressure, this time it was different. I trained specifically for this, doing a lot of hill training and intervals on my time trial bike".

Germany's Judith Arndt, was 15 seconds down as she crossed the line to clinch the silver medal. Linda Villumsen (NZL) took the bronze medal.

Cervélo TestTeam riders Patricia Schwager (SUI) 13th, Charlotte Becker (GER) 14th and Regina Bruins (NED) 21st finished out of the top 10.

One out of many news papers and sports mags listed emma for sports personality. How much do you have to win to make them notice! Brit cycle fans know how much work you girls do to get your results. Good luck to you all next year
