Düster delivers top 10 result

Sarah Düster (GER) finished in 8th position today, the best result for Cervélo TestTeam in the second stage of the Holland Ladies Tour. The 107 km stage in Leende was won by Martine Bras (NED - Mixteam Merida / Gauss), who also now tops the GC standings as well. Valentina Bastianelli (ITA - Top Girls Fassa Bortolo-Ghezzi) claimed second and Janneke Ensing (NED - Dolmans Landscaping Wielerteam) took third.

“Today’s race like yesterday’s was without any wind and a relatively easy race. One aspect of the stage that was quite hard was the twenty kilometer stretch over the cobble stones where we tried to set the pace,” said Egon van Kessel, Sports Director. “So after 10 km the bunch was divided into four parts but everything came back. In the last 20 km there was an attack of three riders Martine Bras, Valentina Bastianelli and Janneke Ensing. They had a 1:50 second gap with just 15 km to go. Though High Road was in the lead, they started too late to close the gap. In the last five kilometers there was a big crash that prevented the peloton from bringing them back. So those three riders sprinted for the win. Kirsten Wild (NED) and Sarah Düster (GER) were behind the trio, with a 34 second gap at the front of the peloton. We are looking forward to the next stage, and our sights are still set on winning the tour overall.”
