Canadian Professional Triathlete Heather Wurtele is on a roll. After winning Ironman 70.3 Monterrey, she has gone on to defeat a deep and competitive field to win Ironman 70.3 Oceanside just two weeks later. And she did it in record time.
Her season started off as the defending Latin American Pro champion at Ironman 70.3 Panama. Unfortunately, the conditions got the best of Heather and she was unable to finish due to heat stroke. But the P5 riding Wurtele quickly proved that her condition was great with her convincing victory at Ironman 70.3 Monterrey.
Oceanside is a significant race for Heather as it serves as a great benchmark in her continuing improvements as an athlete. Racing it every year since 2009, Heather can look back on her performances at the California event to mark her development (details in her blog) Of course, it will be tough to improve upon a course record next year…
Good luck for the rest of your season Heather. See you at Ironman 70.3 St. George, we’ll be cheering you on!
