Introduction

Joan Llaneras wins Gold in the Points Race in Beijing on his P3 Track
Dominating the Points race in Beijing, the P3 Track took five of the top-10 spots, including Gold and Silver. In the Team Pursuit, Denmark took Silver on the same bike. Where most manufacturers use different frames for their pursuit and sprint stars on the track, Cervélo uses one and the same frame because the P3 Track is a perfect combination of light weight, stiffness and aerodynamics.

This also represents a great opportunity for our customers; you can invest in one great track bike and use it for all events, rather than having to divide your budget over two bikes.

TrueAero®

Airplanes require different airfoils than bicycles. Sounds logical, but many companies are so proud to say their airfoils come from the National Advisory Committee on Aeronautics (NACA). So were we, 13 years ago.

But now, we design our own specific airfoils, and it has led to significant improvements. It’s one of the reasons why we spend weeks and weeks in the windtunnel each year, not hours (if any) as is customary in the industry.

When you have the most and the best engineers working on aerodynamic improvements and you give them more time to play in the windtunnel sand box than anybody else, you end up with faster bikes. Simple.

Smartwall for Carbon™
Patent-pending technology from our carbon materials and manufacturing group, Smartwall™ elaborates on the Squoval tubeshape. With the sides far away from the center plane more important, we concentrate more material there to increase the benefit.

Strips of High and Ultra-high modulus carbon stiffen the sides of the main tubes to resist lateral bending. These strips are feathered in to properly transfer the loads from the joints into these tubes.

Finally, we add Kevlar to the headtube/downtube area for industry-leading impact strength.

Reviews
March 2006: Eddie B, legendary track coach, head coach Team Poland - Thank you, thank you, thank you. Rafal won the Sydney World Cup Scratch race because of his frame. Everyone is jealous of the team’s fine frames.

October 2006: Luke Roberts, 2004 Olympic Gold medallist Team Pursuit - I gave the P3 a good hit out on the indoor track in Buttgen, Germany last Friday. It rode awesome, I was extremely impressed. It also attracted a hell of a lot of attention, many people said it was like a 2 wheel version of Schumacher's Ferrari.

Heiko Salzwedel, Danish national team coach (silver medal in Beijing) - "In the World Cup round in Sydney in 2006 we had Russian disc wheels and heavy frames - really s**t equipment. Now we are very competitive, I think that we have the best equipment in the world. Cervélo bikes, 3T Ventus handlbars and Mavic wheels and FSA carbon cranks.

The two seatpost positions on the dedicated P3C Track seatpost correspond with logical sprint (74-75 degrees) and modern pursuit (76-78 degrees) seattube angles. Of course, it is also possible to use the 74-75 degree position for a more traditional pursuit position.

Note 2:The P3C Track has a dropped toptube and shortened headtube to enable the rider to use the frame for pursuit and sprint racing. This means that the frame size is no longer equivalent to the seattube length, so don't determine the size that way. Simply go by the size sticker, or measure the headtube and look it up in the above chart.
